Mauro Giacomazzi

Mauro Giacomazzi is a passionate professional who currently holds the position of Executive Director at the Luigi Giussani Foundation. With a significant focus on education-related research developments, Mauro has made valuable contributions to the field since 2007. One notable project he has been involved in is the assessment of soft skills in Uganda's secondary education sub-sector, in collaboration with the Uganda National Commission for UNESCO (UNATCOM) and the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB). This project has provided insights into the assessment and development of essential soft skills among students. Since August 2020, Mauro has taken on the role of Uganda Programme Coordinator for the Assessment of Life Skills and Values in East Africa (ALiVE) project, which is part of the Regional Education and Learning Initiative (RELI). In this capacity, he has been instrumental in coordinating and overseeing the implementation of the ALiVE project in Uganda. The project aims to assess and enhance life skills and values among students, contributing to their holistic development. Mauro's expertise also extends to developing professional development programs for teachers, specifically focused on enhancing their competencies in designing lessons that promote and develop life skills within the classroom. These programs have been aimed at improving teaching practices and empowering educators to effectively nurture life skills in students. Furthermore, Mauro has collaborated closely with the Ministry of Education and Sports in Uganda, working together to develop strategies for systemic improvement in the education sector. His expertise and insights have been valuable in shaping educational policies and initiatives to enhance the quality of education in the country. Beyond Uganda, Mauro's contributions have extended to several other countries, including South Sudan, Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Jordan, and Myanmar. In these countries, he has developed and implemented programs focused on continuous professional development for teachers and educators, promoting their growth and capacity-building.
